Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional orthodontic care by assisting the orthodontist with patient procedures, managing clinical operations, and ensuring a smooth patient experience. Responsibilities
Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and ensuring patient comfort.
Assist the orthodontist during various treatments, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
Operate and maintain dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques.
Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
Take high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) and assist with other diagnostic imaging procedures necessary for treatment planning.
Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and coordinating with dental reception staff.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control protocols and ensuring all tools are sterilized properly.
Skills
RDA License and Ortho module required
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures related to orthodontics
Experience with chairside assisting techniques including aseptic technique, and infection control practices.
Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining safety standards.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, providing clear instructions and reassurance.
