Cahaba Valley Pediatric Dentistry | Birmingham, AL
About the Practice
Cahaba Valley Pediatric Dentistry is a well-established, thriving pediatric dental practice located at 141 Narrows Dr, Birmingham, AL 35242, led by Dr. Jonathan C. Curtis, DMD, MPH. For over two decades, our practice has specialized in providing exceptional dental care to children, adolescents, teens, and special needs patients of all ages. Alongside Dr. Curtis, our team includes Dr. Caitlyn Enloe, DMD, MPH, a skilled clinical staff, and a warm, family-friendly office culture that has earned the trust of hundreds of families throughout the Birmingham area.
We are excited to grow our practice by adding orthodontic services in-house, giving our patients seamless access to comprehensive dental and orthodontic care under one roof.
Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed, part-time Orthodontist to join our team on a flexible schedule of approximately 4 days per month, with the opportunity to increase days as our orthodontic program grows. This is an excellent opportunity for an orthodontist looking for a stable, low-overhead practice environment, a built-in pediatric patient base, and the flexibility to grow a caseload at their own pace.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive orthodontic evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment planning for pediatric, adolescent, and teen patients
Deliver orthodontic treatment, including traditional braces, clear aligners, space maintainers, and interceptive/Phase I orthodontics
Collaborate closely with Dr. Curtis, Dr. Enloe, and the clinical team to coordinate integrated dental and orthodontic care
Communicate treatment plans, timelines, and expectations clearly with patients and parents/guardians
Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and records in compliance with state and practice standards
Monitor treatment progress and adjust orthodontic appliances as needed
Uphold the practice's reputation for a warm, gentle, kid-friendly patient experience
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Licensure
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school
Successful completion of an accredited postgraduate orthodontic residency program (typically 2–3 years)
Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Alabama, issued by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners
Alabama specialty registration/certification in orthodontics (as required by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners)
Current DEA registration
Board eligible or Board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics (preferred, not always required)
Experience & Skills
Prior orthodontic experience preferred; new graduates with strong pediatric orthodontic training will also be considered
Experience treating pediatric and adolescent patients strongly preferred
Excellent chairside manner with children and the ability to build trust with young patients and their families
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with a multidisciplinary dental team
Comfort working with digital treatment planning and imaging software
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume pediatric setting
What We Offer
Flexible part-time schedule starting at 4 days per month, with room to grow
Established, referral-rich pediatric patient base
Modern, well-equipped facility and supportive clinical/administrative team
Collaborative environment working alongside experienced pediatric dentists
Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience
