Dental Assistant
Overview
We seek a part-time dental assistant who will be responsible for providing patient care, managing office operations, and ensuring a safe and sterile environment. The ideal candidate will assist the dentist during procedures, handle patient records, and adhere to infection control protocols.
Flexible Timing and Days
Primary Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Greet patients warmly and make them feel comfortable
Prepare treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available
Assist the dentist during procedures, including passing instruments, suctioning, and providing patient comfort
Educate patients on oral health care practices and procedures
Maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor, especially with anxious or nervous patients
Office Management:
Handle patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Help manage dental office inventory, ordering supplies as needed and maintaining adequate stock levels, as required
Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing insurance claims, as required
Infection Control:
Adhere to strict sterilization protocols to maintain a clean and safe environment
Disinfect treatment rooms and equipment according to OSHA regulations
Properly sterilize dental instruments and handpieces
Ensure that all safety measures are followed to prevent the spread of infection
Clinical Procedures:
Prepare dental materials, such as mixing cements and impression materials
Monitor patient vital signs during procedures
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or on-the-job experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and terminology
Proficiency in computer software, including dental practice management systems
Commitment to continuing education to stay updated on the latest dental practices and technologies
