Position: part-time Registered Dental Hygienist with potential for full-time
hours: Thursdays 10 am to 630 pm, Fridays 830 am to 5 pm
location: Legacy Dental of Apopka- Apopka, FL
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-time Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team! Legacy Dental of Apopka is a brand- new, modern office with latest technologies. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional patient care by providing professional dental hygiene services, educating patients on oral health, and supporting the overall smooth operation of the dental practice. Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque and tartar, and applying fluoride treatments to promote optimal oral health.
Not Hygiene assisted position: Hygienist is responsible for setting up and taking down operatory set up, and helping with sterilization
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
open to learning cross-training: assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort, when needed.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems, ensuring documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Follow infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to uphold safety standards.
Skills
Strong knowledge of Periodontal staging, dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with pediatric dentistry is preferred to effectively care for young patients.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance standards.
Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education, confidentiality, and building trustful relationships.
Qualifications
Active Florida Dental Hygienist license
Current CPR certification
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Comfortable taking diagnostic dental X-rays
Certification and ability to administer local dental anesthesia preferred
Strong communication and patient-education skills
Experience with periodontal therapy and SRP
Comfortable cleaning your operatory and sterilizing instruments
Willing to assist the doctor and clinical team when needed
Team-oriented attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
Interest in growing with the practice and potentially transitioning into a full-time position
