Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth for patients of all ages, with special attention to pediatric dentistry needs
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized treatment plans
Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health
Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical history in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems Dentrix
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice
Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation and billing
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix for efficient record management
Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental assisting procedures
Excellent communication skills to educate patients and collaborate effectively with team members
