Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs and medical histories to ensure safe treatment plans
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow and patient comfort
Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, and sterilization tools following infection prevention protocols
Review and update electronic health records (EHR) accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and safety measures are followed for diagnostic purposes
Requirements
Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards including aseptic techniques
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with the dental team
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management to ensure accurate documentation
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance standards
