Overview
We are seeking a kind and professional Part-Time Hygienist to join our dental team on a maternity leave coverage basis. As a key member of our team, you will deliver comprehensive periodontal and preventive services, ensuring each patient receives personalized attention and education. Typical appointments are an hour long for adult prophylaxis, slightly shorter for children and longer as needed for SRP and more involved procedures. The office has staff support for operatory clean up and sterilization.
Dates needed: November 16th 2026 - February 5th 2026
Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, scaling & root planing, and fluoride treatments with precision and care.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety protocols are followed.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient records, treatment notes, medical history, and medical imaging within Dentrix electronic health records (EHR) systems
Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards aligned with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
Valid dental hygiene license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry backgrounds.
Proficiency in dental software platforms for documentation review and EHR management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and medical coding practices.
Familiarity with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and infection prevention management.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
Commitment to HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Pay: $50.00 - $62.00 per hour
