Are you an experienced healthcare scheduler who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment? We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Scheduler / Patient Access Representative to support a busy ambulatory clinic by coordinating patient appointments, procedures, and specialty services while delivering exceptional customer service.

This is a back-office scheduling position focused on patient coordination—not a front desk receptionist role. If you have experience with healthcare scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorizations, we'd love to hear from you!

What You'll Do
Schedule routine, urgent, and specialty appointments, procedures, diagnostic testing, and ancillary services
Coordinate appointments involving multiple providers and treatment areas
Answer and manage a high volume of incoming patient phone calls
Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility
Obtain referrals, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications
Collect co-payments and obtain treatment and billing authorizations
Provide patients with verbal and written preparation instructions
Update patient records accurately within the electronic medical record
Review billing discrepancies and assist with corrections
Coordinate referrals for interpreter services, financial counseling, and social services
Process prescription renewal requests within established guidelines
Prepare reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and other administrative documentation
Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Support providers, clinicians, residents, and administrative staff with daily operations
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
3+ years of recent healthcare scheduling experience
OR 1+ year of healthcare scheduling experience with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree
Experience scheduling patients in a healthcare setting
Insurance verification experience
Experience obtaining referrals and prior authorizations
Experience working in a high-volume phone environment
Strong customer service and communication skills
Excellent computer and multitasking abilities
Preferred Qualifications
Patient Access Representative experience
Medical Scheduler or Scheduling Coordinator experience

Imaging/Radiology
GI/Endoscopy
Surgery
Specialty Clinics
Multi-provider appointments
EPIC experience (or comparable EMR/EHR)
Technical Skills
EPIC or comparable EMR/EHR
Healthcare scheduling software
Microsoft Office Suite
Multi-line phone systems
Accurate data entry and computer proficiency
Requirements (due at time of phone screen with recruiter):
· Resume with last seven years of work history if applicable - all work history gaps of 90+ days must be explained.
· Upcoming requested time off for the duration of the contract.
· Interview availability for the next 7-10 days
