This position will be for multiple offices, our Warrendale location with travel to our Butler & Pittsburgh Offices
Primary Functions
The Patient Care Representative is a liaison of the practice and often is the first contact patients have with our organization. Working as part of a team, the Patient Care Representative greets patients as they enter the facilities, answers telephones, checks patients in and out, gathers patient demographic and insurance information, schedules patient appointments, and performs other administrative duties. To ensure our office provides the ultimate patient care, the Patient Care Representative also maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of patient reception and front office work areas. Travel to all offices and outreach clinics as dictated by the needs of the practice is essential in this position. We do reimburse for travel.
Essential Job Functions/Duties
Operate multi-line telephone systems.
Enter and/or update patient demographic and insurance information for every patient.
Conduct insurance verification using practice management systems, insurance websites, and in-house eligibility verification systems.
Obtain appropriate documentation from patients. Scan documents into the practice management and EMR system.
Collect and record patient payments including co-pays.
Schedule and/or reschedule patient appointments.
Process and balance daily collections at end of day.
Prepare and make bank deposits.
Responsible for individual monies collected and daily deposit slips processed.
Manage daily appointment schedules.
Confirm and move patient appointments.
Process and send patient recall notices.
Obtain vision authorizations or eligibility.
Maintain a thorough understanding of insurance requirements.
Conduct administrative duties such as filing, typing, printing, photocopying, scanning, etc.
Maintain a thorough understanding of urgent patient care and triage.
Act as physician-patient liaison when necessary and appropriate.
Utilize resources such as insurance representatives and websites.
Meet daily quota for PM rescheduling queue.
Minimum Work Experience/Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1-year multi-specialty physician office front desk experience (ophthalmology or optometry preferred).
ACSR- Accredited Customer Service Representative certification. (preferred).
Ability to communicate effectively and work compatibly as a team member with physicians and other staff members.
Must be able to work flexible hours and travel to all offices and outreach clinics as dictated by the needs of the practice.
Working knowledge of Windows based programs.
Working knowledge of systems. (PODIS, MDI and/or Nextech preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
