Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our compassionate dental team. This role involves providing exceptional chairside assistance and patient care within a pediatric dentistry setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with children. Prior experience with dental software and infection control protocols is highly valued. Duties
Assist the dentist during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, and extractions
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient safety and comfort
Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, maintaining accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
Monitor vital signs and medical history to ensure patient safety before procedures
Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records
Practice four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control protocols
Qualifications
Proven experience in dental assisting, preferably within pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings
Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health
Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for medical documentation and records management
Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and effectively; certification in radiography preferred
Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical environment
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining patient comfort
Knowledge of pediatric-specific procedures including vital signs monitoring and behavior management techniques
Certifications in CPR or basic life support are desirable but not mandatory
