Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Pediatric EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary) to join our vibrant pediatric dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance, perform expanded functions procedures, and support the delivery of high-quality dental care tailored specifically for our young patients. Your expertise in pediatric dentistry, combined with your proficiency in dental assisting and sterilization procedures, will help create a welcoming environment where children feel safe and cared for. Duties
Assist the dentist during pediatric dental procedures, including restorations, sealants, and extractions, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort
Perform expanded functions such as placing fillings, polishing restorations, and applying topical fluoride treatments in accordance with state regulations and clinic policies
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
Take high-quality dental x-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper technique and patient safety while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards
Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, taking vital signs, and ensuring all documentation complies with medical documentation standards
Educate young patients on oral hygiene practices in a friendly manner to promote lifelong dental health habits
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection control protocols
Skills
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar patient management software
Strong knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles, dental terminology, and anatomy relevant to children’s oral health
Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques
Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices to optimize efficiency and patient comfort
Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental x-ray units, and other clinical tools safely and effectively
Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures to young patients and collaborating with team members such as dental receptionists and other clinical staff
Familiarity with dental terminology
