Duties
Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection activities and Medicare claims
Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate documentation review and data entry into EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
Maintain organized medical records, ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies, and handle filing of physical and electronic documents
Assist with clinical documentation review, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and ensure compliance with healthcare documentation standards
Support office management tasks such as inventory control, appointment reminders, and coordinating with clinical staff for care plans or follow-up appointments
Requirements
Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administrative role within a clinic or hospital setting
Strong computer skills with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus
Knowledge of health insurance procedures including verification, claims processing, and Medicare billing practices
Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
English & Spanish is a must
Familiarity with medical terminology, dental terminology (if applicable), and basic medical coding (ICD-10/CPT) required for accurate documentation review
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, data entry, and documentation review
Ability to maintain confidentiality following clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations
Office experience involving clerical tasks such as typing (including 10 key), filing, and using Microsoft Office applications
