Location: Freeport, NY
Job Type: Part-Time with Opportunity for Full-Time
Reports To: Practice Owner / Office Manager

We are seeking an experienced Dental Receptionist who can confidently manage front-desk operations, dental insurance processes, and patient communication in a fast-paced environment.

Practice Clinical Schedule & Availability
Our practice is open for patient care during the following days and hours:
Mondays & Fridays: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (alternating Pediatric Dentistry days)
Wednesdays & Thursdays: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (General Dentistry)
Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
We are looking for a team member who is available to work some or all of these clinical days on a regular, ongoing basis. Additional hours and opportunities may become available as the practice continues to grow.

Position Summary: The Dental Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in the daily success of the practice. The ideal candidate will have previous dental front desk experience, a strong understanding of dental insurance, familiarity with dental terminology, and the ability to accurately calculate patient copays, deductibles, and estimated treatment costs.

Responsibilities:
Greet and check patients in and out while providing exceptional customer service.

Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally and efficiently.

Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments while maximizing schedule productivity.

Verify dental insurance benefits and eligibility prior to appointments.

Accurately calculate and collect copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient balances.

Present treatment estimates and explain patient financial responsibilities.

Maintain accurate patient demographic, insurance, and account information.

Process payments and maintain accurate financial records.

Perform appointment reminder, confirmation, and follow-up calls.

Coordinate with providers and clinical staff regarding patient flow and scheduling needs.

Manage patient concerns with professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Support administrative and operational needs as required in a growing practice.

Required Qualifications:
Dental receptionist, dental front desk, or dental administrative EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

Strong knowledge of dental terminology, common dental procedures, and treatment planning.

Experience verifying dental insurance benefits and explaining coverage to patients.

Ability to accurately calculate patient copays, deductibles, annual maximums, and treatment estimates.

Experience collecting payments and discussing financial arrangements with patients.

Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly.

Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

Ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Open Dental software.

Familiarity with PPO dental insurance plans and claims processes.

Bilingual (Spanish preferred).

Experience in a general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontic, or multi-specialty dental practice.
