Duties
Provide chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols
Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools, ensuring adherence to dental x-ray safety standards
Manage patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or other patient management software while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with patient management by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures to ensure patient comfort and understanding
Support infection control practices through aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise
Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency and patient outcomes
Experience
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental instruments, equipment operation, and medical documentation standards
Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely and accurately while adhering to radiation safety guidelines
Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, providing compassionate care and clear instructions
Certification in Dental Assisting (CDA) or equivalent credentials are required; additional certifications in radiography or oral surgery are a plus
