Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will be a self starter and have experience in various aspects of dental assisting, including chairside support, patient management, and familiarity with dental software systems. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic and providing exceptional care to our patients.

Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.

Prepare and maintain the dental operatory, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.

Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety standards.

Manage patient records and medical documentation using EMR systems such as Open Dental, Eaglesoft or Dentrix.

Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-operative care, and treatment plans.

Be able to conduct recall for hygiene and treatment.

Answer phones and be able to schedule patients properly.

Own the schedule
Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and recording medical history.

Support pediatric dentistry practices by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.

Utilize 3D scanners for imaging when necessary and assist in prosthodontics and endodontics procedures.

Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques to ensure high-quality care.

Requirements
Previous experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.

Ability to lead and not wait to be told what to do regardless of title
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.

Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance.

Experience with medical imaging, medical coding, and maintaining medical records is advantageous.

Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Excellent communication skills to interact positively with patients of all ages and all settings.
