Overview

Duties
Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
Take dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
Manage medical documentation, including updating electronic health records, recording vital signs, and maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
Requirements
Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure in the applicable jurisdiction.
Proven experience in general dentistry with proficiency in chairside assisting, dental terminology, and infection control practices.
Familiarity with EMR systems like Carestream for medical documentation and records management.
Knowledge of X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques, and radiation safety protocols.
Understanding of anatomy, dental assisting procedures, and medical terminology relevant to pediatric dentistry and other specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment and support anxious patients with compassionate care.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and educate patients clearly.
