Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, ensuring compliance with IPAC regulations.
Utilize EMR systems such as Tracker or Paradigm for patient management and scheduling.
Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary.
Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques throughout the practice.
Support the dental receptionist with administrative tasks as needed.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
Bilingual is an asset
Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Tracker or Paradigm is preferred.
Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
Experience in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
Knowledge of medical coding and documentation is a plus.
Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is highly desirable.
Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is beneficial.
