Job Description
At Avalon Dental, we want patients to feel heard, comfortable, and cared for from their first phone call through the end of their appointment.
We’re looking for an experienced California Registered Dental Assistant who combines strong clinical skills with exceptional communication. If you notice when someone is nervous, explain things patiently, and help people feel at ease without making them feel rushed, we’d love to meet you.
About the role
Initially, you’ll divide your day between clinical assisting and a few hours of front-office support. Our goal is to transition this position into a fully clinical dental assisting role over the next few months as our scheduling and staffing needs develop.
We want to be transparent about that initial mix and are looking for someone comfortable contributing in both areas.
What you’ll do
Assist the dentist efficiently while staying attentive to patient comfort. Welcome patients, listen to their concerns, and explain appointment steps clearly within your role. Help anxious patients feel supported and communicate their needs to the dentist. Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain organized clinical spaces. Take digital images and scans and perform duties within your qualifications and permitted scope. Initially support phones, scheduling, patient check-in and checkout, and coordination between the front and back office. Keep accurate records and follow through on patient and team needs.
What we’re looking for
Active California RDA license and current CPR/BLS certification. Previous chairside dental assisting experience and dental front-office experience. Excellent listening skills and a warm, professional communication style. Confidence helping patients who feel anxious or overwhelmed. Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate what needs doing. A collaborative approach and willingness to help wherever needed. Dentrix and iTero experience preferred.
