Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of dental procedures, excellent patient care skills, and proficiency with dental software systems. As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering high-quality dental care, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. Your role will be vital in fostering a welcoming environment while adhering to all safety and privacy regulations.
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with infection control protocols.
Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, orthodontic, prosthodontic, pediatric, oral surgery, endodontic, and periodontal treatments.
Take and record vital signs and medical histories to assist in patient assessment and treatment planning.
Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures.
Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental receptionist.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the privacy of all patient information.
Support the dental team by managing medical coding and documentation for insurance claims and billing processes.
Requirements
Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or equivalent licensure.
Proven experience working in general dentistry with familiarity in specialties such as orthodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontics.
Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft and Dentrix for managing medical records and clinical documentation.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance standards.
Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and efficiently while maintaining a compassionate approach.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
Prior experience working in a busy dental clinic environment is highly desirable.
Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures is an advantage.
