Job Description
Dental Hygienist (3 Days/Week) — Western Springs, IL
We are a small, private dental practice in Western Springs, IL seeking a passionate, dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our team. This is a 3 days per week position with the potential to transition into a full-time position.
Schedule:
Mon/Tues/Fri, or
Tues/Wed/Fri
Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, and provide fluoride treatments as appropriate to support optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and current dental conditions to help identify needs and support personalized care.
Take and manage digital radiographs (X-rays) using proper technique and patient safety protocols.
Assist the dentist during exams.
Provide clear, patient-friendly oral health education, including preventive care guidance and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term healthy habits.
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records using Dentrix, ensuring documentation is timely and complete.
Follow strict infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique, sterilizing/cleaning instruments and equipment, and adhering to healthcare infection control guidelines.
Maintain a professional, confidential environment and communicate respectfully with patients and team members.
Be a team-oriented employee who is willing to help other staff members as needed.
Qualifications
Current Illinois dental hygienist license (experience preferred, not required).
Comfortable with digital radiographs and safety protocols.
Proficiency with Dentrix for charting and scheduling/documentation (or ready to learn quickly).
Strong chairside communication skills and a patient-focused, compassionate approach.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection prevention standards.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA-compliant documentation practices.
