Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging equipment, ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Assess patient vital signs and medical history to identify any health concerns that may impact dental care.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Assist with chairside procedures in four-handed dentistry setups, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort.
Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix) accurately, reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Maintain infection prevention protocols, including sterilization of dental instruments, aseptic techniques, and adherence to healthcare infection control standards.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental office or clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments.
Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable for efficient patient record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health assessments.
Hands-on experience with dental equipment operation, dental x-ray procedures, and medical imaging techniques.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed during their visit.
Knowledge of infection prevention management practices and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Ability to perform detailed documentation review, medical coding, and ensure compliance with all legal and safety standards related to dental care delivery.
