Job Description
Temporary Registered Dental Hygienist Needed
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Registered Dental Hygienist to provide maternity leave coverage in our busy, family-oriented dental practice.
Office Hours
Monday – Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Thursday: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring accurate positioning and safety protocols.
Assess patient health by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency.
Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment plans in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment.
Review medical histories and update patient information to ensure comprehensive care.
Manage patient assessments, including medical terminology understanding and documentation review.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Support infection control measures aligned with healthcare standards to prevent cross-contamination.
Operate dental equipment safely and effectively while adhering to technical standards for dental x-ray procedures.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic environment.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) management systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding practices related to dental care.
Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus, demonstrating comfort working with children and understanding pediatric-specific procedures.
Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including patient care coordination during various treatments.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, education, and team collaboration.
Qualifications
Current Dental Hygienist license
Current CPR certification
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Friendly, professional, and reliable
Experience with Eaglesoft (preferred but not required)
