Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and preventive oral care procedures
Take and develop dental X-rays as needed
Examine patients for signs of oral diseases, cavities, and gum disease
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene, brushing, flossing, and preventive care
Record and update patient medical histories and treatment notes
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures when necessary
Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to safety standards
Ensure patient comfort and provide excellent customer service
Follow infection control, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations at all times
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and dental coding standards
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and sensitive information
