Job Description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Registered Dental Hygienist to join our Area of Dental Services team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working 7:30AM-6:00PM - Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

Provides advanced prophylactic and preventive dental procedures.

Responsibilities:

Upon referral from a dentist, examines patient’s teeth and surrounding tissues to determine extent of abnormal condition requiring treatment

Records a history of each patient to determine the extent of abnormal condition requiring treatment and determines if systemic conditions are present which may alter standard treatment

Plans age-appropriate dental hygiene treatment and series of appointments in accordance with existing conditions

Performs a complete oral prophylaxis on ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients

Administers local anesthetic when necessary

Performs deep sub gingival scaling, root planning, curettage and polishes the teeth and applies fluoride

Smooths and polishes rough edges of restorations, places temporary fillings, places and removes rubber dams and applies sealants

Gives age-appropriate instruction to patients in oral hygiene brushing and flossing techniques and periodontal aids

Plans and adapts instruction in home care techniques, tailoring them to the oral hygiene needs and problems of individual patients

Records patient information and treatment administered into the dental data system

Cleans, sharpens and sterilizes instruments and ensures instruments are in working condition

Provides dental hygiene instruction and training to other dental service personnel

Takes and interprets intra-oral and extra-oral digital x-rays images to determine areas of calculus deposits and periodontal involvement and selects images for special use in educating

Provides dental health promotion/disease prevention information to patients and to the public

Coordinates dental hygiene services for the diabetic population in conjunction with the CNDH Diabetes Program

Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency

Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities

Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types

Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment

Maintains and promotes professionalism

Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards

Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area

Performs all other duties as assigned

A dental hygiene degree from a dental hygiene school accredited by the American Dental Association

Nitrous Oxide Permit
