As a Registered Dental Hygienist at Bella Dental, you are an important part of our mission. You will help execute our vision by working with our patients and our team to constantly improve our impact on the community. You will focus on the direct patient care and customer service side of the practice by always keeping patient experience, retention and safety at the top of your priority list.

In a Nutshell, Your Top Priorities:
A career as a Dental Hygienist offers a wide range of challenges. In the dental office, the Dentist and the Dental Hygienist work together to meet the oral health needs of patients.

Services provided by Dental Hygienists include: patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting, taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays); providing clinical services; and health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.

Occupation Specific Tasks:

--Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay.

--Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.

--Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using dental instruments.

--Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.

--Feel lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate the presence of oral cancer.

--Assist in maintaining dental equipment and sterilizing dental instruments.

--Assist in maintaining patient recall system.

--Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.

--Review patient medical histories.
