Overview
We are seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist to play a vital role in providing preventive and therapeutic dental hygiene care to patients. In this energetic and rewarding position, you will provide high quality preventive dental care, educate patients on maintaining optimal oral health practices, and support the overall efficiency of our dental practice. You will help offer a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and cared for at every visit. The role focuses on maintaining patients’ oral health through professional cleanings, periodontal care, patient education, and early identification of oral health concerns.
Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to promote healthy smiles.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and dental charts to develop personalized treatment plans.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
Assist the dentist during procedures, making sure that all equipment is prepared properly .
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Open Dental, ensuring documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Requirements
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
Proficiency with dental software such as Open Dental for electronic health records management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care.
Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards.
Excellent client communication skills with a focus on patient education and building trust.
Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control practices.
Familiarity with dental coding, documentation review, and medical records management is advantageous.
Local anesthesia certification preferred
