Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and patient-focused Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our growing dental team. The ideal candidate is committed to delivering exceptional preventive oral healthcare while educating patients on maintaining optimal oral hygiene. The Dental Hygienist will work collaboratively with dentists and other clinical staff to provide comprehensive periodontal care, preventive services, and patient education in a professional, efficient, and compassionate manner.

Duties
Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including reviewing medical and dental histories.

Conduct periodontal charting, oral cancer screenings, and risk assessments.

Perform adult and pediatric prophylaxis (dental cleanings).

Perform scaling and root planing (deep cleanings) as indicated.

Remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth using hand and ultrasonic instruments.

Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, desensitizing agents, and other preventive therapies.

Take and process digital dental radiographs while adhering to California regulations and HIPAA guidelines.

Assist the dentist during examinations by documenting clinical findings and treatment recommendations.

Update and maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as NextGen.

Review medical histories, medications, allergies, and vital signs as appropriate.

Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, periodontal disease prevention, and post-treatment care.

Maintain strict infection control and sterilization procedures in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and California Dental Board standards.

Prepare and disinfect operatories before and after each patient.

Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care.

Assist with maintaining hygiene supplies and reporting equipment maintenance needs.

Stay current on advancements in dental hygiene practices, technology, and continuing education requirements.

Experience
Previous experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist in a dental practice is preferred.

Experience performing periodontal charting, prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, fluoride treatments, and sealants.

Knowledge of general dentistry and periodontal therapy.

Familiarity with dental terminology and oral anatomy.

Experience with EMR systems (NextGen, Dentrix, or similar) is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of infection control protocols and OSHA standards.

Excellent communication, patient education, and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.

Current California Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing.

Current CPR/BLS Certification.

Minimum of 3 years of dental hygiene experience preferred.

Experience performing prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, periodontal charting, fluoride treatments, sealants, and digital radiographs.

Experience using EMR (Electronic Medical Records); knowledge of dental terminology required.
