Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for patients of all ages.
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment.
Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs.
Assist the dentist during procedures through chairside assisting, managing dental equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment with aseptic techniques.
Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate recordkeeping within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Follow infection prevention protocols aligned with healthcare standards to uphold HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
Qualifications
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification.
Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments.
Proficiency in EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, with strong knowledge of medical coding and documentation review.
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care procedures.
Skilled in infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention management.
Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and patient care delivery.
