Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring thorough removal of plaque and tartar.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to tailor personalized care plans.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis while maintaining strict adherence to infection prevention protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health habits.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency and patient comfort.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy, documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Maintain infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing dental equipment, and adhering to healthcare infection prevention guidelines.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Open Dental for scheduling, documentation review, and medical coding.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation.
Experience with adult dentistry procedures and providing dental care patient education tailored for children and their families.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization processes and aseptic technique adherence.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR management systems for accurate documentation of medical records and treatment plans.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance management practices to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
