Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by providing thorough dental cleanings, patient education, and preventive services. Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring proper technique and safety protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix), documenting treatment details, medical information, and patient interactions thoroughly.
Adhere strictly to infection prevention management protocols, including aseptic techniques and infection control standards aligned with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring patient safety before procedures.
Support the dental team with chairside assisting during various treatments, including dental x-rays and other diagnostic procedures.
Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive medical records and documentation review processes.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and general dentistry procedures.
Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, sterilization tools, and other clinical devices.
Expertise in infection prevention practices, aseptic technique, healthcare infection control standards, and medical coding where applicable.
Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices.
Ability to perform patient assessment accurately by taking vital signs and interpreting medical imaging results.
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles when working with children or pediatric patients.
Knowledge of EMR/EHR management systems to ensure accurate documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
