Overview
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to promote oral health.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, , medical history review, and dental examinations.
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Educate patients on proper dental care practices, emphasizing preventive strategies tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting treatment details thoroughly.
Follow strict infection control procedures, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, in compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
Monitor patient safety by managing medical emergencies, assessing vital signs, and understanding medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with medical coding standards and legal requirements.
Qualifications
Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state licensing requirements.
Proven experience in dental office settings, preferably with exposure to pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments.
Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for electronic health record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy related to oral health.
Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and infection control protocols aligned with healthcare standards.
Excellent communication skills for client interaction, patient education, and team collaboration.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
