Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Take and evaluate vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and comfort.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, updating medical records, and evaluating oral health needs.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures.
Document all clinical findings accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, including medical imaging and documentation review.
Support dental office operations by managing medical coding, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with chairside assisting during various dental procedures while maintaining a professional and caring demeanor.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a general or pediatric dentistry setting is preferred.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology.
Prior experience with dental assisting duties, including taking radiographs and supporting the dentist during procedures.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and documentation review processes.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse patient populations including pediatrics.
Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
