Duties
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix systems
Assess patient health by measuring vital signs and reviewing medical histories to ensure safe treatment planning
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term dental health
Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques
Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Support infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control procedures in compliance with healthcare standards
Collaborate with dentists and other team members to review documentation, medical coding, and treatment plans for optimal patient care
Monitor medical imaging equipment and dental tools to ensure proper functioning and safety during procedures
Conduct patient assessments including vital signs, medical history updates, and dental examinations to inform treatment decisions
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures
Proven experience in dental office settings, particularly in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and dental equipment operation
Skilled in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray techniques, and patient care management
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices aligned with HIPAA compliance standards
Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices
Ability to work efficiently within a team using four-handed dentistry methods for optimal patient flow
Familiarity with medical coding processes related to dental procedures is a plus
