Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current oral health status
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
Assist with dental procedures such as restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments
Manage electronic health records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
Document medical and dental information accurately, including medical coding and medical documentation standards
Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient treatment delivery
Experience
Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting
Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and dental assisting procedures
Hands-on experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient records
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical records security
Strong understanding of general dentistry practices, including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and vital signs monitoring
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, including children in pediatric dentistry settings
Prior experience working with dental reception staff or in a dental clinic environment is a plus
