About Wausau Smiles

Dr. Aaron Bushong founded his first offices, Wausau Smiles Dental and Green Bay Smiles Dental, almost ten years ago. Taking over practices that were small but well-established, Dr. Bushong quickly implemented changes that saw significant patient growth in a very short amount of time. In the case of Wausau Smiles, patient numbers went from 1,000 to over 5,000 in about five years' time. To meet this demand, he more than quadrupled his Wausau staff, added several new dentists, and built a new 8,200 square foot facility with 12 operatories, state-of-the-art dental technologies, and some of the finest patient amenities of any dental office in the region. After this tremendous growth, Dr. Bushong began to look across the state at other opportunities. His first large acquisition of offices included purchasing the Neighborhood Smiles practices located in La Crosse, Onalaska, West Salem, and Belleville. In the years that followed, he went on to purchase offices in Waupaca, Merrill, Mosinee, Weston, Stevens Point, and West Allis. In each case, Dr. Bushong has been dedicated to preserving the best elements of each office culture and to helping new office staff to incorporate his strategies to delivering the greatest patient care and service possible. As our group of offices expands, we remain committed to providing personalized dental care of the highest quality on the way to maintaining our patients’ trust. While it's become exceedingly difficult in dentistry to compete effectively against corporate entities, we continue to differentiate ourselves from our competition in several meaningful ways. First of all, we set ourselves apart through the wide range of services we offer: Patients can come to our offices and get everything. They can get the highest end dentistry in their areas. They can get implant surgery or full mouth rehabilitation. A significant amount of our business is dedicated to these higher end procedures and services that relatively few dentists in our communities offer, regardless if they are corporately owned or not. But the majority of attention is still focused on family dentistry. And with that, we truly differentiate ourselves through our customer service. Our attention to patient experience, reflected in the way we train our staff and organize our processes, has made for very loyal patients who are eager to share about our offices with the people they know. So much of our success depends on us treating each and every patient as family: making them feel like they’re at home, making them as comfortable as possible, and always treating them with respect. It seems a little cliché to say, but that kind of attentiveness to our patients—that personalized care—is what really helps to differentiate our dental offices from those around them.
