Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting all treatments, observations, and patient interactions in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support infection control procedures by sterilizing instruments, managing medical waste, and ensuring a sterile environment at all times.
Requirements
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix or Open Dental preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
Ability to perform pediatric dentistry procedures and work effectively with children in a pediatric dentistry environment.
Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting and documentation review.
Knowledge of medical coding procedures related to dental treatments for accurate recordkeeping.
