Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Dental Hygienist to join our vibrant dental team on the Upper East Side of Manhattan!
Schedule
Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: Two Saturdays per month, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
One patient per hour.
1 hour lunch break from 1-2pm.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and oral examinations.
Take full dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, Open Dental.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures, to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection control.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures and respond promptly to any concerns or emergencies.
Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical coding, documentation review, and appointment scheduling.
Requirements
Preferred: Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience
Valid license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
Proficiency with dental software, Open Dental, for charting and record management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Skilled in using dental equipment including X-ray machines, ultrasonic scalers, and other hygiene tools.
Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and patient education.
Ability to perform medical assessments including vital signs measurement and basic emergency response procedures.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and aseptic techniques to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and electronic health records management.
Commitment to HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Pay: $58.00 - $63.00 per hour
