Responsibilities
Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning teeth, removing plaque, tartar, and stains to promote optimal oral health.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history reviews, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using medical imaging techniques while adhering to aseptic procedures and infection prevention protocols.
Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, supporting dentists with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dental terminology, and post-treatment care to enhance their understanding and engagement.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
Manage infection prevention measures by sterilizing dental equipment, practicing infection control standards, and adhering to healthcare infection prevention protocols.
Qualifications
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current state certification.
Proven experience working in dental offices or clinics, with familiarity using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation.
Expertise in pediatric dentistry techniques and experience working with children is highly desirable.
Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively.
Proficiency in dental assisting tasks such as chairside assisting, documentation review, and medical coding is a plus.
Demonstrated commitment to infection control practices, aseptic technique, and HIPAA compliance management.
