Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. As a Registered Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health, educating patients on preventive care, and supporting overall treatment plans while ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to maintain optimal oral health for patients.
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to inform treatment planning.
Capture and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care strategies, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their understanding of dental health.
Assist dentists during procedures through chairside support, including handling dental instruments and managing patient comfort.
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care activities within electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality and managing sensitive medical information securely.
Implement infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and promote a safe clinical environment.
Monitor and manage dental equipment maintenance, sterilization processes, and inventory levels for supplies necessary for daily operations.
Collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive care in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring a positive patient experience.
Qualifications
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in the respective jurisdiction.
Proven experience working in dental clinics or healthcare environments with proficiency in dental assisting and chairside procedures.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral health care.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management.
Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and healthcare infection control standards.
Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about dental care practices.
Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is preferred but not mandatory; experience working with children is advantageous.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and professional ethics.
