Position summary
The Registered Dental Hygienist provides preventive oral health services and patient education in a fast-paced, patient-centered dental practice. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality hygiene care, supporting clinical efficiency, and contributing to a positive patient experience at every visit.
Key responsibilities
Perform comprehensive periodontal assessments, including probing, charting, and radiographic review
Deliver prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, and other hygiene procedures per state scope of practice
Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, findings, and recommended treatment with clarity and empathy
Take and interpret radiographs (digital X-rays) in compliance with state guidelines
Document clinical findings and update patient records accurately in the practice management system
Support the dentist in identifying and presenting treatment needs, including restorative and adjunctive services
Administer local anesthesia and apply fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents as permitted
Maintain strict infection control standards and OSHA/HIPAA compliance at all times
Collaborate with clinical and front office teams to ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling efficiency
Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, organized operatory between patients
Requirements:
Qualifications
Active RDH license in the state of Florida, in good standing
Current CPR/BLS certification
Experience with digital X-rays and practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build rapport with a diverse patient population
Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented, production-driven environment
Local anesthesia certification preferred
Work environment & physical requirements
Clinical dental setting; exposure to standard dental materials and equipment
Requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of fine motor skills
Use of appropriate PPE required at all times in clinical areas
