Responsibilities
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
Conduct patient assessments by measuring vital signs, reviewing medical history, and evaluating oral health status
Educate patients on proper dental care techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice to promote long-term oral health
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
Implement infection prevention protocols by sterilizing instruments, managing infection control measures, and adhering to aseptic techniques
Review medical records for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA
Support general dentistry services with patient care, documentation review, and medical coding as needed
Experience
Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation
Familiarity with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing electronic health records effectively
Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable, including working with pediatric patients and understanding pediatric dental procedures
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with patients of all ages, providing excellent client communication and education
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and infection control practices within a dental environment
Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient comfort and safety
Certification in radiography (X-ray) is required; additional certifications in medical coding or medical terminology are advantageous
