Job Summary

Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while maintaining radiation safety protocols.
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy and attention to detail.
Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Maintain thorough documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Monitor patient vital signs before procedures to ensure safety during treatment sessions.
Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including handling dental instruments and managing patient comfort throughout procedures.
Requirements
Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings; experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus.
Proficiency with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR management is preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care.
Skilled in dental x-ray techniques and maintaining radiation safety standards.
Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on dental care practices.
Knowledge of infection control procedures, including sterilization techniques and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment utilizing four-handed dentistry methods for optimal patient flow.
Commitment to HIPAA compliance and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Basic understanding of medical coding and documentation review processes related to dental procedures.
