Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist to cover for our wonderful hygienist who is on maternity leave! Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Educate patients on proper dental care techniques, including brushing, flossing, and preventive practices tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting all patient interactions and treatment details thoroughly.
Follow strict infection prevention protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, managing sterilization of dental instruments, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures.
Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings is highly desirable.
Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and scheduling.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
Skilled in chairside assisting, including handling dental equipment and supporting the dentist during procedures.
Expertise in infection control management, including sterilization processes and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
