Join Shield pediatric dentistry We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic high speed dental team. In this vital role, you will deliver exceptional patient care by providing thorough dental cleanings, assessments, and education while ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for every patient. Your expertise in dental hygiene procedures, infection control, and patient communication will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of oral health and safety within our practice. Duties
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs measurement and medical history review.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR/EMR systems), documenting treatment details, medical information, and clinical notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Ensure infection prevention measures are strictly followed by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilization protocols, and infection control standards.
Operate dental equipment safely and effectively while supporting general dentistry procedures.
Review medical records for relevant health information that impacts dental care planning.
Communicate clearly with patients about treatment plans, procedures, and billing processes to foster trust and understanding.
Skills
Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and billing management.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable for working with young patients effectively.
Expertise in infection prevention management, including sterilization techniques and healthcare infection control standards.
Ability to perform dental x-rays accurately while maintaining patient safety protocols.
Excellent client communication skills to educate patients on oral health topics confidently.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure precise documentation review and management.
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment using chairside assisting skills alongside dentists during procedures.
Strong understanding of dental equipment operation, medical imaging procedures, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe practice.
