Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning
Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and the importance of preventive care tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs
Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix for accurate documentation review and record keeping
Support infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Collaborate with the dental team during procedures involving medical imaging, medical coding, and documentation review for comprehensive patient care
Qualifications
Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification in CPR and infection control practices
Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred but not required
Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix for charting, scheduling, and record management
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures
Ability to perform dental assisting duties including chairside assisting with a focus on pediatrics when needed
Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about oral health strategies
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining confidentiality of medical records
