Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Surgical Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance during various surgical procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. Your expertise will support the delivery of high-quality dental care, particularly in specialized areas such as implant placement, extractions, and other periodontal procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment prior to procedures.
Assist the dentist during surgical procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and maintaining a clear operative field.
Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and image quality for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Monitor vital signs and patient comfort throughout procedures.
Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions related to their treatment plans.
Maintain detailed medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with the dental team including receptionists and hygienists to coordinate appointments and streamline clinic operations.
Stay current with advancements in dental assisting techniques, including endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on surgical procedures in a dental clinic setting.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic technique.
Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental for medical records management.
Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy.
Excellent chairside assisting skills with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
Ability to interpret medical terminology and assist with medical coding when necessary.
Knowledge of infection control standards.
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
