Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Temp Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team! This paid temporary position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced dental clinic environment.
Start time: June 15th, 2026
Duration: 2 - 3 months
As a Temp Dental Assistant, you will support the delivery of exceptional patient care by assisting the dental team with chairside procedures, patient management, and clinical operations. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to creating a comfortable, efficient, and welcoming atmosphere for our patients. This role is perfect for someone passionate about dentistry and eager to expand their skills across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available for procedures
Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments, including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning
Operate 3D scanners and other medical imaging equipment for accurate diagnostics in complex cases like prosthodontics or endodontics
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries as a dental receptionist, and maintaining organized medical documentation
Assist with infection control protocols, including sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment
Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care, and preventive practices to enhance their understanding and comfort
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry procedures is essential
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards is required
Hands-on experience with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is advantageous
Experience with pediatric dentistry or working with pediatric patients is a plus
Certification or training in X-ray techniques and medical coding is beneficial
Strong understanding of aseptic technique, infection prevention measures, and medical documentation practices
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations while demonstrating professionalism and compassion
