Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, tailored to pediatric and general dentistry needs
Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history reviews, and dental x-rays using digital imaging equipment
Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health
Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques
Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix with accuracy and attention to detail
Maintain strict infection control protocols by practicing aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
Review medical and dental records regularly to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with healthcare standards
Qualifications
Valid state licensure or certification as a Dental Hygienist with experience in pediatric dentistry preferred
Proficiency with EHR systems such as Open Dental or Dentrix; familiarity with medical imaging and dental x-ray technology is essential
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and infection prevention management
Excellent communication skills for client interaction and patient education across diverse age groups
Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside support and documentation review efficiently
Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical records management, and healthcare infection control practices
Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly desirable
