Responsibilities
Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup effectively.
Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, dental records, and current symptoms to inform treatment planning.
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions tailored to pediatric or general dentistry needs.
Operate dental imaging equipment for X-rays and other diagnostic images while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper medical coding standards.
Requirements
Valid Dental Hygiene license in accordance with state licensing requirements.
Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Open Dental for accurate documentation.
Experience in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, or both is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy and data security.
Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and collaborate with the dental team.
