Job Summary
We're seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Dental Receptionist to temporarily join our small dental team from 11/09/2026-12/10/2026. We will have you come in to train for a couple of days the week before. Our hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:30-4:00. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing front desk support and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your positive approach will help create a welcoming environment, manage appointment scheduling, verify insurance information, and handle patient inquiries with professionalism and care. This temporary position offers an opportunity to contribute to our dental practice while gaining valuable experience in dental office management.
Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring a positive patient experience
Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software Dentrix
Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims accurately using our system
Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle billing procedures related to dental services
Maintain accurate and organized patient records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality policies
Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette and assist patients with appointment scheduling or inquiries
Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with clinical confidentiality policies
Requirements
Previous experience as a dental receptionist or in a medical office environment is highly preferred; clinic or dental clinic experience is ideal
Strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing practices including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and insurance verification processes
Proficiency in Dentrix, or similar platforms
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Bilingual abilities are considered an asset to serve diverse patient populations
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times
